I think almost two years of blogging is enough for a lifetime.
Not because I have run out of things to say, and not because writing has suddenly stopped mattering to me. I simply think I have reached the end of my interest in having a place on the internet that asks me to keep speaking.
For almost two years, this website has been here. I have written, published, disappeared for a while, returned, written again, and left behind more words than I ever expected to.
When I started, I thought perhaps blogging was something I wanted to do seriously. Perhaps I imagined that, with enough time, I would grow into it—that I would become someone who enjoyed the rhythm of creating, publishing, sharing, and remaining visible.
I have discovered that I am not that person.
I like writing. I like ideas. I like the solitude of taking a thought and following it until it becomes clear enough to put into words.
But blogging is something else.
Blogging asks for a certain kind of presence. It asks you to keep appearing, to keep producing, to keep giving people something new to read. Eventually, it asks you to begin looking at your own thoughts as things that might become content.
I don’t think I want that anymore. And there is something strangely comforting about knowing that.
I will not be posting on this website anymore. The website itself will disappear by the end of this month. There is something fitting about the two endings arriving together. No elaborate farewell. No promise of a return. No attempt to preserve this place simply because it once mattered.
It existed.
I was here.
I wrote.
And now it is finished.
I don’t regret starting it. If anything, I am glad I did. Almost two years is long enough to discover what something gives you, what it asks of you, and whether you still want to give it your time.
I have my answer now.
I will still have thoughts. I will still write things from time to time. But they no longer need a website, a publishing schedule, or an audience waiting for them. Some words can simply exist without being published. Some ideas do not need to become a body of work. some things can have a beginning, a middle, and an end—and the end does not diminish what came before it.
This blog has had its time. Almost two years of blogging is enough for a lifetime. So, before this website disappears, I will leave these last words here.
Not as an invitation to come back.
Not as a promise of something else.
Just as a final record that, for almost two years, this place existed—and I was here.
And now it will disappear, and I will let it.
That is all.
Goodbye.
